Carol Neal is a Fine Art Artist and Photographer. Her interest in the visual arts began in early childhood due to the awards and encouragement she received from teachers and other close relations. Her kindergarten teacher was the first to noticed the detail she put into her drawings and her inclination to create art in any form.
The love of art was the driving force that inspired her to educational pursuits starting with drawing and painting. She attended The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, and later, The Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art Education.
Carol taught art in the Chicago Public School system and encouraged her students to pursue their ambitions and talents. This inspired Carol to learn and explore photography as an additional media of artistic expression. She enrolled at Columbia College Chicago School of Photography where she earned her second Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography. She studied photojournalism under Pulitzer Prize Photojournalist John White, photographer for The Chicago SunTimes.
Carol has always been intrigued with a camera’s ability to capture and freeze moments of time. This gave her the opportunity to use her photo images as subjects for her oil paintings; painting being her favorite art media.
Carol’s photographic work include assignments for: United Airlines, The Chicago Urban Leaguers, StreetWise Newspaper, and The Episcopal Dioceses of Chicago. She has also worked with The Edward Fox Photography Studio of Chicago. Carol has won awards and had exhibitions for both her photography and paintings.
